LSSSC Constitution


1) Name - the name of the club to be Lincolnshire Smallholding and Self-Sufficiency Club

2) Objects of the club to be:

a) To promote the interests of all members in any aspect of smallholding or self-sufficiency and any other related activities.
b) Arranging regular meetings, talks, visits, competitions and other social events.
c) To bring together likeminded people to offer advice and share ideas about a range of interests from cheesemaking to organic growing etc
d) To produce a regular members newsletter and to maintain a club website.

3) Membership. The Club shall consist of such persons who reside in, or have an interest in Lincolnshire and who have a genuine interest in any aspect of smallholding or self-sufficiency.

4) Subscriptions. Each member shall pay an annual subscription. Member’s guests or family may attend meetings by paying an entry fee per person for each meeting attended, or they may sign up for full membership. The annual subscription and entry fee will be decided by the Committee. Children under 16 will be admitted free of charge when accompanied by a full member.

5) Officers. The Officers of the club shall be a Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary. They shall be elected at each Annual General Meeting. Retiring Officers shall be eligible for re-election. The committee may at its discretion appoint a President. All Officers and members of the Committee must be fully paid up members of the club.

6) Committee.
a)The affairs of the club shall be conducted by a Committee of Management of not less than six and not more than twelve. The Committee shall meet at least 4 times between Annual General Meetings. The Committee shall retire at the Annual General Meeting but shall be eligible for re-election. Vacancies shall be filled by the Committee and shall hold office until the next Annual General Meeting. A quorum shall be three members.
b)The Committee shall have the right to appoint sub-committees for special projects or events. All sub-committees will report back to the full Committee.

7) General Meeting. The Annual General Meeting shall take place at the July club meeting. The Annual General Meeting shall only be open to fully paid up members of the club. Six members shall form a quorum. At the meeting the audited accounts shall be submitted and the Officers and Committee for the ensuing year elected. An Extraordinary General Meeting shall be called upon the requisition in writing to the Secretary of at least twelve members.

8) Bank Accounts. The Committee shall open and maintain a bank account in the name of the Club and all monies received from any source on behalf of the Club shall be paid into such account. Cheques shall be signed by two signatories.

9) Audit. An Auditor or Auditors shall be appointed who are not members of the Committee.

10) In the event of the club deciding to disband, the bank shall be informed, and all money left intact for a period of not less than three years. The serving Committee to elect, before disbanding, three persons to be responsible for distributing the money to charities, after the period of three years has elapsed. They will also arrange for any assets of the club to be disposed of.
